$90,000 DONATION AWARDED TO RECONNECT HOMES WITHOUT WATER IN THE CITY OF PETERSBURG
PETERSBURG, VA – Delegate Lashrecse Aird is pleased to announce an emergency charitable contribution in the amount of $90,000 from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation to aid in the reconnection of homes without running water in the City of Petersburg. In conjunction with Pathways-VA, Inc., funds will be allocated on behalf of the accounts that were disconnected prior to the declaration of public health emergency but have remained disconnect during this pandemic due to a past due balance.
Delegate Aird released the following statement as a result of her coordination with both organizations to secure the funds:
“During this pandemic, one household without water is a household too many. I take comfort in knowing that as result of the Commissioner’s order, their suffering has ended,” said Delegate Lashrecse Aird. “I am especially grateful to the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation and Pathways-VA, Inc., for each of their roles in offering this relief. I worry deeply about families during this pandemic and well after which is why I am excited that this money will be available to support families in need now and into the future. It is truly a testament to the generosity and collaboration of both organizations that during this critical time for vulnerable communities they’ve stepped up in a major way.”
“Dominion Energy is focused, as always, on supporting the communities we serve,” said Hunter A. Applewhite, president of the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation. “We are pleased to be able to make this contribution to Pathways to support families in need. During this present emergency, we are especially focused on essential human needs and water is as essential as it gets.”“Our organization has been about the work of supporting the community in the City of Petersburg,” said Juanita Epps. “I want to thank Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation for their support in providing these needed funds during this emergency for residents in Petersburg living without water.”
